how to care for your jewelry

preliminary jewelry care and cardinal rules: These simple reminders can help prevent scratching, tangling and extreme wear on your jewelry.

To assure the quality of your pieces last, please be diligent in taking off your jewelry when bathing, exercising, swimming and sleeping. When getting ready we recommend setting aside your piece until you are ready to wear it.

Storage Care: It can be easy to toss your jewelry on a nightstand or in a purse or drawer, but it's important to be thoughtful about how you store your pieces. We recommend keeping your jewelry in a clean, dry space. Using a fabric lined case for storage (like the ones we ship with each Rileyhaus purchase) will work wonders. If your jewelry case is lost or not on hand, an easy solution is to wrap your jewelry in a cloth or soft tissue before storing it in a drawer or bag.

Cleaning Care: if you use a cleaner that is too strong, you may end up hurting your jewelry more than you're helping it. When in doubt, just lightly clean your pieces with gentle soap and warm water.

Pearl Care: To clean pearls I recommend wiping with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. You can dampen a Q-tip or soft toothbrush to access any harder-to-reach spots

Gold Plated Metal Care : a quality jewelry polish cloth will remove dirt and tarnish as well as give the piece it’s shine back. - Be sure to be gentle when polishing the jewelry by wiping instead of scrubbing.

Gold-Fill Metal Care: rest your piece gently in a bowl of room temperature mild soapy water and let it bathe for 10 minutes.
